Self-Care on a Budget: 5 Homemade DIY Face Masks

Do you enjoy taking good care of your skin? But do you think it’s a waste to buy expensive face masks or to see a beautician? I got you girl! I feel exactly the same. I LOVE budget self-care solutions.

A small introduction to my skin type: my skin is extremely dry and I have eczema. That is why I like to use pure products without perfume and unnecessary ingredients. There are only a few products like that in my country and they are often expensive. DIYing is therefore a perfect solution.

Whether you want to save money or want to use natural products like me, or actually want both. Today I will show you 5 recipes (no you can’t eat them haha!) which you can use to make five DIY homemade inexpensive face masks. It’s the perfect self-care on budget for all sorts of skin types.

1  | BANANA HONEY MASK – OILY SKIN

Banana is a great exfoliator and also contains moisture, potassium, and vitamins E and C, which all will help to get clear and glowy skin.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 tablespoon pure honey
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice

In a bowl, mix the ripe banana and honey. Add some lemon juice to the mixture. Wash it off after 15 minutes and apply a moisturizer to your face.

2 | ALMOND AND HONEY MASK – COMBINATION SKIN

Almonds are full of Vitamin E, which keeps your skin hydrated and calm. It also makes your skin soft and glowy.

Ingredients:

  • Seven tablespoons of almond powder (or crush a handful of almonds in a blender)
  • One tablespoon of pure honey
  • 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice

Mix all ingredients well together until evenly combined. Apply to your face using a makeup brush or your fingers. Wash it off after 15 minutes and apply a moisturizer to your face.

3 | HONEY AND AVOCADO MASK – DRY SKIN

This is mask is ideal for my own skin type, dry skin. Avocado contains several vitamins and antioxidants that could help nourish your skin from within and impart a natural glow. Avocados are a rich source of vitamin E which helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This will help strengthen your weak skin barrier. The honey is moisturizing and can help brighten your skin.

Ingredients:

In a bowl, mash the avocado with the back of a spoon. Mix in the honey.
Apply to your face using a makeup brush or your fingers. Wash it off after 15 minutes and apply a moisturizer to your face.

4 | EGG WHITES – ACNE PRONE SKIN

The protein in egg whites can help kill bacteria on the pores and skin and help stop blemishes.

Ingredients:

  • 2 to 3 egg whites

Separate the egg whites from the yolk. Put the egg whites in a bowl. Apply bits of the yolk to your face with a makeup brush or your fingers. Wash it off after 10-15 minutes and apply a moisturizer to your face.

5 | LAVENDER HONEY MASK – SENSITIVE SKIN

The honey in this mask is moisturizing and can help brighten your skin. The lavender oil helps calm your skin and lessen redness and irritation. This works great for eczema. Make sure to test your skins reaction to lavender first (by testing it on your arms).

Ingredients:

Mix the honey and lavender oil well together until evenly combined. Apply to your face using a makeup brush or your fingers. Wash it off after 15 minutes and apply a moisturizer to your face.
